This gin based version of the classic Moscow Mule recipe was invented by New York’s leading mixologist Aubrey Saunders. With its fragrant punch of ginger, zesty lime notes and aromatic minty hue, we at Craft Gin Club HQ think this cocktail is perfect for a late spring evening. Especially when you use Ludlow Elderflower, Chamomile and Lemon Verbena Gin as the star ingredient, which we sent our members in their March 2020 Gin of the Month box! They are a match made in heaven!

Ingredients

50ml gin
25ml ginger ale
15ml simple syrup
15ml lime juice
small handful of fresh mint leaves
lime, to garnish

Method

First you will need to make your simple syrup: In a saucepan, combine 100g of sugar with 100ml of water and stir on a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the liquid to cool before using.

Muddle the mint (keeping some leaves back for extra garnish), simple syrup and lime juice at the bottom of a shaker. Add ice and the gin. Shake well and then strain into a traditional Moscow Mule copper mug (a Rocks or Collins glass would work too) full of ice. Top up with ginger ale and garnish with the remaining mint leaves and a wedge or wheel of lime.
