On 13 November, we celebrated World Kindness Day by inviting people to nominate someone they know who had shown them great kindness for the chance for that nominee to win some free gin!

We were totally overwhelmed by the responses we received - what a truly lovely bunch you are!

When we read Roseanna’s story, and nomination for her friend Jan, we were so moved by their incredible friendship that we decided they BOTH deserve some free gin - and a special extra gift. Well, it is for World Kindness Day!

Here’s what Roseanna told us in her nomination for her friend, Jan:

I nominate my friend Jan, and not just because she would be kind enough to share the gin with me!Simply put, my life wouldn’t be as wonderful as it is without her. I have a rare genetic muscle-wasting disease, arthritis and hyper mobile joints, and if that weren’t enough, my two kids also have the same disease. So, during flare-ups where I can’t stand up without dislocating, Jan is always on the scene checking what I need, cooking me dinners, or I’ll find her in my house doing my dishes and taking my laundry to do for me. She understands when I can’t keep plans and is happy to sit on my couch and have “movie day” instead. I could carry on for ages of the kind things she does for me every day just to help my life be that little bit easier.

— Roseanna

Here are just a few of the other entries we received in the competition - we hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did! Thank you so much to everyone who entered - we raise a glass to all your wonderful kind gestures this World Kindness Day. Chin-chin!

I nominate my husband, as he is my carer and he is always here for me. I would love to just return a little kindness for his 40th birthday in December. He deffo deserves more then I could ever give him.

— Tara

I nominate my friend Claire for always just knowing when to be there for me. We’ve helped each other through a whole world of problems - and we certainly know how to enjoy a gin or four, too!

— Andrea, who was also picked at random as a winner in the competition

My amazing daughter Kelly. She is always there for family, friends and community - I don’t know where she gets the energy and time to do what she does and she never complains 😍.

— Ann

I nominate Teresa, a Home Carer in our village community. She works long hours and often seven days a week. She looked after my Mum, who was bedridden, so brilliantly for eighteen months until my Mum left us in August. If ever there was a hard working and caring person, Teresa is. She deserves a little gift more than anyone else that I can think of. XXX

— Kimmy

My amazing daughter Vikki - a full-time nurse and mum but she still finds time for anyone who needs a hand, asking nothing in return. She’s a truly beautiful soul. xx

— Amanda

My lovely hubby Alex deserves a wee treat for all the hard work he does! He does the cooking, all the DIY jobs around the house and even does my mum’s DIY as she lives next door. He is also her chauffeur for all her hospital and doctor’s appointments. No words can express how much he is appreciated so I think he deserves this lovely gin as he likes a wee tipple from time to time! x

— Elaine

I nominate my lovely son-in-law Florin, who is a kind and caring partner to my daughter. He also is an amazing chef who treats me to some awesome meals!

— Bobbie

I have too many people to tag! But my friend Aldyth has been on the end of some rants of mine and always has the best ideas for resolution - they generally involve #gin!

— Beth

I nominate Stacey ❤️ for all the support when a spider comes into the house... without her I would have to move out!

— Carl

Rebecca, for making 70 metres of bunting for my wedding using 900 hand cut triangles!

— Rachel
