Recreating flavours of our favourite foods in drinks is not something new to mixologists, but these cocktails go one step further. In honour of National Burger Day, we scoured the internet for Burger Cocktails! Yep, that's right - cocktails that taste like burgers! You might not want it with cheese, though...

The Cheeseburger Cocktail

Ingredients:
25ml rum
2 Roma tomatoes
25ml iceberg lettuce water
25ml well-reduced beef stock
Salt and pepper

To Garnish:
Toasted bread crumbs
Dry mustard powder
Aged Cheddar
1 Large kosher dill pickle

Method: 

1. Heat a pan and sprinkle in some cheddar. Using a spoon make into a circle and let it brown on both sides.
2. Place on a cool plate. Mix the bread crumbs with the mustard powder before wetting the rim of the glass with pickle juice. Then roll the rim of the glass in the breadcrumbs mixture. 
3. In a cocktail shaker mix the rum and beef jus together. Put the tomates and ice into the shaker and muddle, adding the lettuce water gradually.
4. Pour the ingredients into an ice filled tumbler and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the cheddar disc and serve.

Maple Bacon Old Fashioned

Ingredients:
4 slices of cooked maple syrup bacon
100ml bourbon
1 tablespoon maple syrup
4 dashes Angostura bitters
Ice cubes, to garnish
Orange twists, to garnish

Method: 

1. In a dish put the bacon in and pour the bourbon over. Cover with foil and chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Strain the mixture into a shaker.
2. Combine the bourbon mixture with, maple syrup and bitters.
. Pour into an ice filled tumbler and garnish with orange twists and the cooked bacon from earlier.

Cheeseburger Red Snapper

Bloody Mary cheeseburger garnish

Ingredients:
For the Bloody Mary
50ml dry gin
100ml tomato juice
½ part fresh lemon juice (to taste)
4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
4 dashes of Tabasco sauce
Pinch of sea salt
Pinch of black pepper
Lime slice
Ice

For the Cheeseburger Skewer
Ground beef
Arugula leaves
Dijon mustard
Mini buns
Gherkin
Sweet cherry pepper
Salt and pepper

Method: 

Bloody Mary:
1. Add ice to a shaker and add in all the ingredients together and stir vigorously. 
2. Pour into an ice filled tall glass and add a lime to garnish.

Cheeseburger Skewer:
1. Make the beef mixtures into little burgers and bake at 200°C until cooked through. Add a slice of cheese to the top of each one. 
2. Spread dijon mustard on the mini-bun, then a few arugula leaves. Place the beef and cheese over the leaves before topping with the other half of the bun. Put a skewer through the pepper then the cheeseburger and a gherkin slice.
3. Add to the bloody mary and enjoy!

The Whiskeyburger

Whiskey whisky burger cocktail

Ingredients:
75ml ground-chuck-infused whiskey (see original recipe)
2 tsp tomato syrup (see original recipe)
1/4 tsp mustard bitters (see original recipe)
Lettuce-onion foam (see original recipe)
Slice of a dill pickle, to garnish

Method: 

1.  In a cocktail shaker, mix together the infused whiskey, tomato syrup and mustard bitters.
2. Strain the mixture into an ice filled tumbler.
3. Add the lettuce-onion foam* and garnish with a slice of dill-pickle.
