Showcasing their cheeses at the Great York Show last week, Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers unveiled a new cheese, 'Endeavour',  a soft-cheese with added flavours of gin and tea, which may delight gin and cheese fans alike!

Made using cow’s milk and then washed in Mason's Yorkshire Tea Gin, which is produced in the market town on Bedale, North Yorkshire, the company believe it to be the only cheese in the world to be produced using the spirit. AND it won silver prize at the Great Yorkshire Show in their prestigious Dairy class. Making this cheese even more appealing to us!

They decided on the name 'Endeavour' after Captain Cooks famous ship which was anchored off Botany Bay, hence the botanical connection, and subsequently then sunk in the American war of independence and famous the Boston tea party, hence the Yorkshire Tea edition of the gin being used.

Richard Holmes, Managing Director of Cryer and Stott said: “We’re really thrilled that our Endeavour cheese has been recognised in the Great Yorkshire Show Dairy Awards.  This cheese highlights Cryer & Stott’s ability and innovation and it’s been a great team effort from planning and testing through to the final launch".

Endeavour has already been making waves amongst cheese enthusiast with it appearing on the menu at the Michelin starred The Star Inn at Harome.  For more information and where to buy visit their website www.cryerandstott.co.uk

Until we can get our hands on some 'Endeavour' cheese we will have to settle for eating cheese whilst drinking gin at the same time...
