st georges day

Our beloved Patron Saint George left this earth for the gilded halls of heaven on this day some 1,712 years ago. Executed for his Christian beliefs, the ex-Roman Army Soldier was canonised in the year 494, a time at which the story for which George is most widely-known had still not been popularised. If George actually came upon dragons during his lifetime, we’ll never know for sure bar the discovery of a functioning flux capacitor. But if he had, he wasn’t particularly good at documenting his triumph.

The story of George dispensing of the dragon first appears in his story some time around the Crusades, about 700 years after his death. To celebrate the finding of this fable after those 700 years, we’ve compiled a list of seven dragon-ised cocktails we like to think George would have quaffed after avoiding being burned alive by the fire of the scaly beast. So cheers to our Patron Saint! Honour his slaying of the dragon by slaying these cocktails.
